Applegarth, Our Terms & Conditions
Small Print
Please note some of these terms only apply to the self-catering cottages Stable and Byre.
All Guests:
The person whose name appears on the Booking Form (“the Booker”) agrees to take full responsibility for ensuring that all members of their group (their “guests”) adhere to the Conditions set out below. No booking may be made by anyone under 25; also, the Booker must be in occupation for the duration of the booking. In the Conditions, “Owner” refers to the owner of the property you are booking. “Property” refers to a room or rooms in Applegarth House Bed and Breakfast; or Stable Cottage or Byre Cottage (“the Cottages”) in their entirety as self-catering units.
1. The number of people occupying a room in Applegarth House is limited to 2 people; each Cottage is limited to 4 people, of which there must be no more than 2 adults.
2. BOOKING DEPOSIT – For a booking in the Bed & Breakfast, the Booker must pay 50% of the booking fee as a deposit at the time of booking, with the remainder payable 30 days prior to the arrival date. In the case of the Cottages, the booking deposit is £125 paid at the time of booking; an additional £125 will be secured against the Booker’s credit card and treated as a Security Deposit against the cost of repairing any damage caused by the Booker or their Guests. The Security Deposit (less any deduction for damage) will be released 48 hours after the Booker’s departure.
3. BALANCE – Credit card details will be held to pay the balance when due and will be taken automatically. For bookings made less than 30 days before the arrival date, the full booking fee will be payable at the time of booking. Failure to pay the balance, or allow the Owner to take the balance by credit card on the due date (30 days) prior to the arrival date, will lead to the cancellation of the booking and forfeiture of the deposit. Only one reminder will be sent out.
4. CANCELLATION – Any cancellation must be notified in writing to the Owner. If notice of cancellation is received before any payment balance is due, only the deposit will be charged and retained by the Owner. If the booking is cancelled within 30 days of the arrival date (i.e. the whole booking fee has been paid) then the whole booking fee will be retained until the property is relet. In the event of re-letting the property, the booking fee will be refunded to the extent there is no loss on the re-booking and less the booking deposit (50% for B&B bookings; £125 for Cottage bookings). If the property cannot be re-let then there will be no refund of any portion of the booking fee.
5. Cancellation Insurance – we strongly recommend specific cancellation insurance is taken out to cover unforeseen circumstances leading to cancellation by the Booker. Annual Travel Insurance policies may provide this cover, but check the conditions. If a booking is made via our website, there will be an option on the booking form to take out insurance for the booking.
6. If the property you have booked becomes unavailable, through any cause, leading to cancellation by the Owner then the Owner’s liability shall be limited to the amount of any deposit/booking fee paid.
7. Arrival time in the Bed and Breakfast is not before 4.00pm and the Booker is asked to notify the Owner of their expected time of arrival. Checkout is by 10.00am on the day of departure.
8. DOGS – For the Cottages, up to 2 well-behaved dogs of small/medium size are allowed, by prior agreement. Throws (some are provided) must be used if dogs are likely to be going on furniture. Dogs are not permitted in bedrooms and NEVER on beds. Also, dogs must not be left unattended in the Cottages. There is a single fixed charge per stay of £15 for a dog(s).
In Applegarth House, which is our home as well as a Bed and Breakfast, we allow, in
total, up to 2 well-socialised dogs to stay (we have 2 Labradors ourselves). This has
to be strictly by prior arrangement, since we may have other guests already staying
with a dog(s). Unfortunately, any dogs proving to be a nuisance will have to stay in
their owner’s vehicle.
9. SMOKING – All our rooms, cottages and grounds are STRICTLY no smoking. As publicly accessible space this is a requirement, as well as for the comfort of other guests.
10. For the peaceful enjoyment of all guests coming to Applegarth, the Property as a whole operates a Quiet Time between 10.00pm and 9.00am. At all times guests are asked to be considerate towards other guests, particularly when enjoying our outdoor spaces and garden.
11. All of our portable electrical appliances for use by guests have been tested and approved within the terms of the new Fire Assessment Regulations. As the use of guests own personal electrical items is outside our control, the safety of these is their responsibility and they are used at their own risk.
12. All guests must accept that the responsibility for the personal property of guests occupying any of the accommodation is solely theirs. All vehicles and their contents are left at their owner’s risk. The Booker agrees to absolve the Owner of any responsibility for any accident or mishap to persons or property whilst staying at the Property or whilst engaged in any activity therein, or from any illness or injury arising from any causes whatsoever.
Specifically the COTTAGES:
13. The Booker of the Cottages agrees they and their guests will use the Property solely for its intended purpose as self-catering accommodation and to accept the Owner’s right to refuse to hand over the property to any person deemed unsuitable to take charge. Causing a nuisance or disturbance to neighbours, unreasonable behaviour or disruption may result in the Owner requesting a Booker and their guests to leave.
14. The Cottages must NOT be used for Hen, Stag or any other type of party or social gathering.
15. The Booker agrees to allow the Owners or agents access to the Property at all reasonable times, or at any time in the case of emergency (e.g. in the case of a water leak, power outage).
16. There are coloured wheelie bins provided for any excess rubbish, which guests are asked to use. Two are for recycling waste. These are by the Church wall.
17. The Booker and their guests must respect and look after their booked accommodation during their stay and must leave the Property clean and tidy. Any Booker in breach of this will incur additional charges. Please let us know of any breakages, missing items or damage so these can be remedied/replaced before the next guests arrive. We reserve the right to charge for any breakages, missing items or damage.
18. Arrival time in the Cottages is from 3.00pm, there is a key-safe giving access, the code will be provided before arrival. Please give an indication of expected time of arrival.
19. The Booker and their guests are required to vacate the Property by 10.00am at the latest on their date of departure. This is to allow sufficient time to prepare the Property for the next guests.
