About Applegarth

Applegarth is the original seat of the Clan Jardine dating back to the 12th century. The clan chief’s family name is Jardine of Applegirth ~ taking the middle ages spelling.

The House is built on where once stood the original 12th century Motte and Bailey. Formerly the Manse (Rectory in Scottish) to Applegarth Church, Applegarth House and Cottages are just a short drive from Lockerbie and Junction 17 on the M74. It is situated very close to the River Annan – lovely for fishermen and is an oasis of rural tranquillity.

Listed with Sawday’s Special Places to Stay Applegarth offers dinner, bed and breakfast where you can enjoy Andrew and Kirsteen’s delightful hospitality. Tea in fine bone China with homemade scones and cake await guests and an invitation for pre-dinner drinks.

“Outstanding. 5 Stars” ~ Michael & Christine, Knutsford.

OR
Alternatively, why not stay independently in their luxury self-catering cottages newly converted from Applegarth’s original Georgian stable and byre. You will find a complimentary welcome basket with home-made cake, local eggs and chocolates as well as a bottle of wine. A homemade casserole, cottage pie or lasagne can be ordered and ready for you.
