Our Cottages
Byre & Stable are two new luxury one-bedroom cottages. They were converted in 2024 from the old Byre & Stable to Applegarth House ~ formerly the Manse (Vicarage) to Applegarth Church.
The original stonework has been preserved outside and the internal white tongue and groove panelling to the high vaulted roofs and walls gives a spacious rustic style. Our cottages have been finished, furnished and decorated to a very high standard. Each are beautifully cosy with underfloor heating throughout.
Eco credentials have been a priority to the conversion. The cottages have underfloor heating powered by an air source heat pump and electricity by solar panels.
Each cottage has private parking with paved area and a 7.4 kw EV charger .

Accommodation
Both Cottages
Byre & Stable are practically identical, Byre is a little more spacious and has a built-in wardrobe in the bedroom, whereas Stable has a hanging rail – both have a chest of drawers.
There is a step up to the beautiful private paved terrace on the West side.
They are both disabled friendly and easily accessible to the spacious wet room. Likewise easy access from the entrance front door into the living room. There is a step up to the patio outside on the west side. A ramp can be provided.
Each have an attractive open-plan living room (with sofa bed) and fitted kitchen which is beautifully lit by the large glass windowed front door and Velux skylights. These and the blinds are remote controlled.

In the evening, subtle wall lighting and inset lights in the vaulted ceiling create a warm and intimate atmosphere. Walls are decorated with works from local artists. An extremely comfortable three-seater sofa converts easily into a sofa bed if needed (for children) and the living room is completed with a beautiful, cushioned cane chair. The dining table is extendable and could comfortably seat 4 people. In the corner of each is a 48-inch smart TV with a soundbar and in addition a blue tooth speaker is provided.
The kitchen has a fridge freezer, split oven with microwave and ceramic hob, a slimline dishwasher and a condenser washer/dryer. A large dryer and drying line are in the garage if extra drying is needed. We also provide a Nespresso capsule coffee machine with milk frother. The kitchen is fully equipped for all your needs.
In each, there is a small vestibule off the living room which leads onto an immaculately designed wet room with a feature river stone floor. There is a loo and basin and a powerful drenching rain shower. Fluffy white towels hang on the heated towel rail. Next door is a double bedroom with a fabulously comfortable king size bed made up with crisp Egyptian cotton sheets.
Solar panels and an air source heat pump provide underfloor heating, hot water and electricity.
Byre & Stable are dog friendly, but we ask that dogs do not go on any of the furniture. There is a £20 charge for one dog and £10 for a second.
A parking area is immediately in front of the cottages with a 7.4 kw EV charger for each.
Bikes
We have a lockable storage shed for bikes and there are also bicycles for hire.
Games Room
Table tennis and a pool table are available to use.
